All change at The Six Poor Travellers' House Museum
After almost 15 years, Mrs Sylvia Nimmo retires from her duties as voluntary Custodian at the museum. She now becomes a full time resident at the almshouses. The post of Custodian was advertised and the role has been filled by Ms Liz Powell-Bonner who takes up her duties in time for Easter.
The Friends of the Wisdom Hospice
For the second year running, Trustees have awarded The Friends of the Wisdom Hospice £3,900 to fund training for another five of the Wisdom Hospice nurses to be able to admit patients, undertake physical examinations and prescribe medication in the acute trust, hospice community. The Friends support the Hospice by raising money to provide an annual grant, plus those little extras, to ensure patients are as comfortable as possible.
Their aim is to seek out all those who need palliative care and ensure that something is being done to address their needs. One of the nurses who completed the training last year has said “the course will enable me to prevent our patients from unnecessary admissions to hospitals and ensure that the right care can be provided in the place of their choice”
