Watts Opening 8th & 9th September​
As part of the national Heritage Open Days event celebrating England's heritage and culture Watts Almshouses will open to the public on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September 10am-4pm. Visitors can tour the grounds with a guide and view an almshouse; one of the original almshouses will be open where possible. You can also visit the exhibition in the Board Room and discuss the services provided by Watts Charities. Refreshments and home-made cakes will be on sale.

Discover Richard Watts and the fascinating history of the Charity he established in 1579. Get a glimpse into the lives of the people who lived & worked here. Tour the grounds & see behind the scenes of this beautiful Grade II listed building.

Come and join us in celebrating this beautiful building and the fascinating history of Richard Watts Charities. A well known figure in 1500s Rochester, Richard Watts had links to the Navy, Rochester Cathedral, the Wardens of Rochester Bridge and Upnor Castle. Richard welcomed Elizabeth I to his home on Boley Hill in 1573. Documents and images chosen from the Watts Archives will present a timeline of how the Charity has evolved to become what it is today and provide an intriguing peek into the lives of the residents and staff who once lived and worked here. There are some surprises! Trustees, residents and staff will be available to discuss the services provided by Watts today and an almshouse will be open for viewing where possible. You can relax in the Common Room where refreshments will be provided. We look forward to welcoming you.

Grant Awarded to Action for Borstal Community (ABC)
Trustees awarded £415 to Action for Borstal Community to help pay for their annual pre-school summer coach trip to Wingham Wildlife Park. The award means that ABC don’t need to charge parents for the trip and it remains accessible to all the children involved.
